Sausage and Cabbage

A simple quick meal that only uses 3 ingredients! Perfect when short on time and short on ingredients. This is also great for people on a high fat, low carb diet! And also, it tastes delicious! 

You will need:
1/2 a head of cabbage 
1 pound of sausage

So far I have used brats, kielbasa, pork sausage, chicken sausage
My favorite is with brats and kielbasa
When buying your meat you want to make sure it is uncured and nitrate and nitrite free
Also, if you can, buy organic grass fed meat it tastes the best and is so good for you

Preheat oven to 350 F 
Butter the bottom and sides of your 13x9 baking dish
Dice up the cabbage and add it to the baking dish
Pour in 2 tablespoons of water 
Cut up the sausage and layer on top of the cabbage 
Cover with aluminum foil or lid and place in the preheated oven 
Bake for 30 minutes with the cover on
Then bake for another 10 minutes with the cover removed to brown the top

I enjoy this meal just as is, I think it tastes amazing and is extremely satisfying. But if you would like to fancy it up a bit, you can add more vegetables to the mix or season with some salt and pepper. My husbands favorite thing to do is add mustard. Oh and one last thing, do not be afraid of the fat from the butter and sausage, healthy fats are good for you and keep you fuller longer :)
